- Normally I would wikipedia this information but there is nothing on it. Alos Navigon.com doesn't seem to have much for North America users.

Der Fahrspurassistent funktioniert wunderbar, kann jedoch auf gerade Strecke etwas nervig sein.

- Map updates, which include POI updates, are typically released by manufacturers about once per year. Firmware/software updates are released periodically as needed to fix bugs.
- I had contact with a Navigon Tech and he told me that a release was coming the last week of January 2008 for all three North American Units. and to watch the website.
Koni - That sounds about right as we were also told that a firmware update was in the pipeline to address a few issues shortly after CES was over.
- It is Feb 2'nd now. Has anybody seen any updates? If so, please post a link?

Here's what they say has been updated. Nothing much about routing...
1. Easier POI searches
- Easier Revamped POI Proximity Searches -- greatly improved ability to do a nearby search for pois near an address or poi
- Larger search radius for nearby searches for poi
2. Improved voice guidance
- Updated turn prompts expresses the distance to maneuver in '500 feet' instead of '0.1 miles'
- Updated U-Turn Logic means fewer U-Turn prompts
3. Text-to-Speach (TTS) enhancements
- Guidence given for all streets -- each and every street name is articulated, not just the streets that are of a 500 feet or greater distance
- enhanced articulation of non-standard street names (e.g. expressway)
4. User interface improvements
- revised text strings for some menus
- Better stability when saving user settings
- Direct access POI's updated when restoring Factory settings
5. Improved bluetooth stability on the 7100
6. Better handling of time zones in canada.

This trick is useful if you want to use LiveUpdate, but there's no reason to do so. My Navigon has a flash card (SD) and all I have to do is take it and put it in my card reader — once the software is downloaded (new software and new maps) you simply unzip it and write it to the card. Navigon has instructions on how to do so right on their site. I just wish they'd make new devices for the US market, but I'm thinking of trying the iPhone software.
I'm not sure if the problem is really the 'Smartmount' functionality. If you see the two drives on both Mac and Windows, the device is acutally not connected to Windows. Going into 'Devices' -> 'USB' -> 'whateverthenameis' you sould be able to connect the USB device DIRECTLY to the VM, the two drives should disappear under Mac and should appear ONLY within Windows.
Navigon 7310 Update Kostenlos Windows 7
I have to admit, that I posted this hint and a few days later I check it on a different machine with Parallels 4 and there it didn't work. Perhaps there's issue is related to some timing problems while mounting the device. I'm quite sure that in my case, the Navigon wasn't mounted on the mac side and a drive letter appeared on the Windows side but I wasn't able to open the drive (formatting problems). After changing the option mounting worked. Most strangely...
